Geocache Description:

Fangorn Forest is a fictional location in J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth universe. It is an ancient forest that lies to the south-east of the Misty Mountains and to the west of the River Anduin. The forest is home to a race of tree-like creatures called Ents, as well as other creatures such as Huorns, Elves, and Orcs.

The forest is described as being dark, mysterious, and almost impenetrable, with a canopy so thick that little light can penetrate to the forest floor. It is said to be one of the oldest forests in Middle-earth, having been in existence since the beginning of the world.

Fangorn Forest plays an important role in Tolkien's novel "The Two Towers," as it is where the hobbits Merry and Pippin meet the Ent named Treebeard, who becomes a key ally in the war against the evil wizard Saruman. The forest is also the site of a battle between the Ents and the Orcs, which results in the destruction of Saruman's stronghold at Isengard.
