Geocaching recently put out a blog post about Maker Magic event caches and that got us thinking. We have some incredible gadget caches locally, but what if we could create more? How can we inspire other people to get some of their ideas out of their heads and into the wild? I know for us, that is the hardest part, from inception to creation. We enjoy putting out unique geocaches and would like to see more in Prince Edward Island. This also gives an opportunity to participate the Fall Favourite contest and Event.
So in honour of the Maker Magic event, we are opening up the PEI Military Family Resource Center (MFRC) 3 Lower Malpeque Road, Charlottetown, PE to anyone who wants to come build and explore other gadget caches on Monday June 26, 2023 at 6 PM to 7:30 PM. We will showing some gadget caches that we own and discuss ideas and collaborate with other cache creators. We have supplies for people to build their own unique geocaches.
We will discuss what makes a "good" cache container. (Water proof, secure so it won't blow away, well identified so it doesn't look dangerous, etc) Then we will make some cache containers We will have a variety of supplies and tools on hand to make containers. We will be able to create hollow log caches for hiding in the woods. We will make caches for blending in at the beach. We will use the Cricut to make stencils, labels, logos, and decorations that you design and we cut for you.
The front doors lock at 6pm, so please use the back, unless you need wheelchair accessability - then call 902-892-8999 and someone will come open the front door and the elevator for you.
If you have any cache making supplies that you want to bring, please bring them along!
