Fifty-one years after being discharged from the Navy, Engineman 2nd Class (SEAL) Ray Smith Jr. was recognized with the Purple Heart. Join me today in honoring his bravery and sacrifice. This cache container is cute but our service men and women deserve our highest respect.
While inspecting a village in Vietnam for arms and food storage bunkers, Smith and his platoon came under fire. Smith was shot in the arm. The bullet traveled into his neck and passed through part of his carotid artery. Smith was medically evacuated and treated for his injuries.
Congrats to TP Conductor and Geooh GO for first to find.
