Join the Richmond KY Parks & Recreation 1st Annual Geo Event
Make plans and save the date for a new event! Get ready to join geocachers from around the country (and maybe the world?) to become part of the first ever Richmond KY Parks & Recreation Geo Event! The Richmond Outdoor Committee (ROCK), under the Richmond KY Parks & Recreation Department, will serve as the host to what we anticipate as a new annual Geocaching tradition in Madison County KY!
This event is designed to bring geocachers together and celebrate the launch of our new Richmond KY Parks & Rec Geo Trail. Our park staff will coordinate with community Geo volunteers (kymtnhiker & jeangreat) to launch 30 new geocaches to go live immediately following this event. Complete and submit our Geo Trail Adventure Guide and you will receive a custom Geo Swag item (commemorating the launch of the Richmond KY Parks & Rec Geo Trail). Come to this event ready to have fun, explore Madison County (and surrounding counties), play Geo games, trade Geo stories, and make some new Geo friends!
This event is free and open to anyone with a curiosity about Geocaching. As part of this inaugural event, we will have a pre-registration website (visit Eventbrite). The first 150 people to pre-register by September 30th, 2023 will receive our first ever "Year 1: First to Find T," a custom designed Geo themed t-shirt (you must pre-register on Eventbrite AND attend the event in person to qualify for your free pre-registration t-shirt.
Event Details:
Saturday October 21st, 2023 - 8:30am - 10:00am
The posted coordinates will bring you to the parking lot of the Paradise Cove swimming pool area. (NOTE: Please bring your own folding chair if you wish to sit as there is no seating or pavillion shelters. We're meeting in a location that will accomodate plenty of parking, and offers accessible parking.)
Be ready for Geo games and activities during the event, then get excited as 30 new geocaches will launch following this event. Come prepared for weather, plus bring your TOTT (tools of the trade), and invite more cachers to attend with you!
(P.S. Volunteers from the Berea GeoTour - kymtnhiker and jeangreat - will be helping Richmond Parks & Rec with this inaugural event, so tell your family, friends, co-workers, geo buddies and everyone you know to show your support by attending this first year event.)
