「竹塹」為新竹的古稱，最早是平埔族道卡斯族「竹塹社」的所在地。
"Zhuqian" is the ancient name for Hsinchu, and it was originally the location of the indigenous Taokas tribe's "Zhuqian Village."
竹塹城迎曦門位於新竹市東區東門街的圓環中央，是竹塹城目前僅存的一座城門。在地居民也大多習慣稱呼迎曦門為東門城。
Zhuqian City's Yingxi Gate is located at the center of the roundabout on Dongmen Street in the Eastern District of Hsinchu City. It is the only remaining city gate of Zhuqian City. Many local residents also commonly refer to Yingxi Gate as East Gate of Hsinchu City.
往昔作為軍事保衛使用，如今古老的東門城成為市民遊憩的場所，平日可見高中生在此練習跳舞，假日則常常會有駐唱歌手。
Once used for military defense in the past, the ancient East Gate of Hsinchu City has now become a recreational place for the public. On weekdays, it is common to see high school students practicing dancing there, while on weekends, there are often live singers performing.
除此之外，這裡還有都市防災滯洪的功用，當急驟雨來時，東門城廣場可做為小型滯洪池，減輕下水道系統負擔。
In addition, this place also serves as an urban disaster prevention and flood control facility. When there is sudden heavy rainfall, the East Gate of Hsinchu City Square can function as a small detention basin to alleviate the burden on the drainage system.
甚至在某一年，這裡還成為新竹市民們於農曆過年期間施放鞭炮的戰鬥場地，當然很快的就被執法單位所制止。
In a particular year, this place even became a battleground for the residents of Hsinchu City to set off firecrackers during the Lunar New Year. However, it was quickly stopped by law enforcement agencies.
這座古老的城門隨著時代演變不斷改變它的定位，不過唯一不變的就是守護這塊土地上的居民。
This ancient city gate has continuously changed its role with the evolving times, but the one thing that remains constant is its guardianship over the residents of this land.
當你來到此地，不知道會不會從古老的城牆上有些感受呢？如果沒有也沒關係，請仔細觀察紅磚牆，寶藏就在其中。
When you arrive at this place, it's hard to say if you will feel something from the ancient city walls. But if you don't, it's okay. Just carefully observe the red brick walls, for the cache lies within them.
