Ghost Town of Angell
A rail line from Williamsburg to Elk Rapids was built in the area in 1892. Angell was established as a depot and post office on the line. The town also had a sawmill and shingle mill. The first Postmaster was John Wealch. The Post Office was operational from Sept. 7, 1892 to June 30, 1909. (Michigan Place Names by Walter Romig, L.H.D. 1986, pg 24-25)
