Ghost Town of Yuba
Native Americans lived for many years in a village beside Yuba Creek. The first settler David R. Curtis, built a log cabin in Yuba in 1852. In just seven years, there were enough residences to open a one-room schoolhouse. The village of Yuba then grew into a thriving community with three churches, a saw mill, cheese factory, and woolen mill. The first postmaster was William H. Fife on Feb. 16, 1865, the office operated until June 15, 1904. Farm families gathered at the school for celebrations and other special events. In 1901, a second room was added to the school.
