In 1979 the Cleveland Browns planned to build an addition to thier training facility and practice field at local Baldwin-Wallace College. The addition was planned to be built on Bagley Road, which runs directly through the Baldwin-Wallace campus. The facility and fields were set to be in the shape of an 'L' with a 90-yard field running north to south and a 100-yard field overlapping it running from east to west. The Browns and Baldwin-Wallace planned on presenting and requesting the location of thier new facility to the Berea Planning Commission. Then Baldwin-Wallace Vice President, Jim Harvey, said "This is the first part of a 5-10 year plan which presents an immediate, intermidiate, and long-term consideration for all campus property," The total cost of the addition was around $500,000 which today would be worth a little over $2 million.
Unfortunately, the relations between the Browns and B-W cooled and the project was abandoned. B-W took over the property when the Browns lease expired and the Browns began practicing at Kent State University beginning that Summer.
