Geocache Description:

A commemorative statue of the Queen Elizabeth II was unveiled beside the River Thames in Surrey as part of events marking the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta. Magna Carta was issued in June 1215 and was the first document to put into writing the principle that the king and his government was not above the law. It sought to prevent the king from exploiting his power, and placed limits of royal authority by establishing law as a power in itself.

"No free man shall be taken imprisoned stripped of his rights or possessions outlawed or exiled or in any way ruined, nor will we proceed against or prosecute him except by the lawful judgement of his peers and by the law of the land. This passes into law on 15 June 1215 ans remains on the statute book today."

The 4m (13ft) bronze sculpture at Runnymede Pleasure Grounds shows the Queen in full Garter Robes. The Statue is inspired by the famous 1954 and 1969 portraits of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Pietro The statue stands proudly on the banks of the River Thames at Runnymede Pleasure Grounds, on the very meadows on which King John sealed the Magna Carta, on 15th June 1215.  This work of art was conceived and commissioned as a tribute to our Queen, in grateful recognition of her outstanding service to the nation; purposely sited to remind visitors of the enduring and harmonious relationship that exists between Crown and State, established and defined by the events that took place on this historic site 805 years ago.  That document, Magna Carta, became universally acknowledged as synonymous with the ideals of justice and freedom; this fame extending to the site itself, for the name Runnymede is equally internationally well known as the birthplace of democracy and freedom.

James Butler decided to sculpt the Queen as a young woman, “as a great tribute not only to her as a Queen but also to her beauty”. He would normally spend a year perfecting a sculpture, but only had a month for this one in order for it to be cast in time for the anniversary. So, in his ninth decade, he worked 12-hour days all through a wet January, modelling clay in a freezing-cold studio. (Excerpts and descriptions taken from various public records).

You are looking for a little 2 inch tblack tube with camo.
