Geocache Description:

As a multi the geocache is not at these coordinates and, in particular, it is not in or around the Church.

Located in the Bedfordshire countryside, this geocache requires a short trek to access but is not far from the suggested car parking. Please bring your own pen.

Before heading off from Church Road, you need to know where you are going. Here are some clues to help - they can all be answered within a few metres of here.

Firstly your latitude begins N 51°, of course. You will then need to do some Maths, a quick percentage... But don't panic, I recommend you take your time, be at Peace. Your minutes are 1% of thrice this number.

Secondly your longitude (beginning W 00°) is encoded as AB.CDE.

AB is the total of the thatched White House opposite the Churchyard and Springsway Cottage, the house opposite the entrance to the Church Hall. It's best not to assume what you think AB might be and check! Should you need to get hold of Revd Johnson, use digits 9 & 11 to give you C and E respectively. Finally, on nearby DP234, letter D is the number that has been punched out of the first line (Mth).

Enjoy your walk to the geocache location.

Geocache Location

Arriving at the geocache location (although I cannot be certain, having never seen badgers here myself!) I believe under the yew trees here are two holes which are possibly entrance/exit holes into a badger sett given their size and shape.

Please take care not to disturb the sett and stay away from the entrance holes. The geocache is not inside the sett. Be aware that badgers and their setts are protected by law.

With the cache found, you might wish to continue your walk up hill, it is lovely!

If you've enjoyed this geocache, why not try one of my other hides Barton Hills Treasure Hunt? A challenge to find and a beautiful walk as well.

Yew Tree Fun Facts

All parts of a yew tree are poisonous.
Eating just a few leaves can make a small child severely ill (please take care) and there have been deaths linked to yew poisoning.
That said, due to highly poisonous chemicals that they contain, yew trees are harvested to produced the useful anti-cancer drug Taxol.

They are one of the longest-lived native species of tree in Europe. They came to symbolise death and resurrection in Celtic culture. They are often found in churchyards.

Badger Fun Facts

Badgers are one of the most popular and well-known British mammals. Brocc is an old English word for badger. The males are called boars, females are sows and babies are cubs. They are omnivores, nocturnal and can live up to 15 years.
