Šeit Latvijas garākā upe Gauja pēc sava 452 km tecējuma satiekas ar jūru. Lejtecē Gauja tek pa smilšainu gultni, metot dažādus līkumus, vietām nograužot krastus. Grīvas tuvumā straumes ātrums vēl vairāk samazinās un Gaujas nestās smiltis nogulsnējas, veido sēres un nelielas smilšu saliņas, kuru izmērs un novietojums laika gaitā nemitīgi mainās. Gauja ir vienīgā no Latvijas lielajām upēm, kuras grīva ir pilnībā saglabājusi savu dabisko stāvokli, te nav veikti nekādi gultnes paziļināšanas, krastu nostiprināšanas vai ostas izbūves darbi.
Sākot ar augustu Gaujas grīvā ir izvietoti nēģu murdi, kas veido gandrīz vai labirintu un Carnikavā nēģu zvejas sezonas sākumā notiek ņēģu svētki.
Slēpnis ir PET pudeles sagatave novietots uz vienas no šīm saliņām augošu krūmu pudurī. Piekļuve vai nu ar laivu vai peldot no Gaujas labā krasta, ziemā arī pa ledu, bet tas te var būt diezgan nestabils. Peldot jāņem vērā, ka Gaujā mēdz būt nogrimuši koki ar asiem zariem vai saknēm. Auto drošvien vislabāk atstāt Skautu ielas galā pie jūras esošajā stāvvietā.
Gaujas kreisajā krastā no 1. maija līdz 31. jūlijam darbojas putnu liegums, tādēļ šajā laikā tur nedodamies un netraucējam ligzdojošos putnus.
Here, Latvia's longest river Gauja meets the sea after its 452 km course. In its lower reaches, the Gauja flows along a sandy bed, making various bends, eroding the banks in some places. Near the mouth, the speed of the current decreases even more and the sand carried by the river settles, forming small sandy islands, the size and position of which constantly change over time. Gauja is the only one of Latvia's large rivers, whose mouth has completely preserved its natural state, no work has been done to dredge a shipping channel, strengthen the banks or build a port.
Starting from August, there are lamprey fishing equipment in the mouth of Gauja, which form almost a labyrinth, and in Carnikava, at the beginning of the lamprey fishing season, there is a lamprey festival.
The cache is a PET bottle blank placed on one of these islands in the bushes. Access is either by boat or by swimming from the right bank of the Gauja, in winter also by ice, but it can be quite unstable here. When swimming, you should know that there are often sunken trees with sharp branches or roots in Gauja. It is probably best to leave the car in the parking lot by the sea at the end of Skautu Street. A bird sanctuary operates on the left bank of the Gauja from May 1 to July 31, so do not go there during this time and do not disturb the nesting birds.
