Bij Twente denk je misschien aan kleinschalig boerenlandschap met glooiende essen en kabbelende beekjes. Wist je dat je in deze regio ook uitgestrekte hoogveengebieden vindt.
Twente is daarnaast ook bekend om zijn landgoederen.
Deze zijn veelal aangelegd door textielfabrikanten tijdens de hoogtijdagen van de textielindustrie.
Grote variatie dus in landschapstypen, plant- en diersoorten en cultuurhistorie.
Je zult wel denken: Twente, dat is toch die regio vol natuurgebieden, landgoederen en boerderijen. En je hebt nog gelijk ook.
Daarom kun je bij ons ook zo goed van de natuur genieten.

#09 Einde Den Ham - Leertendijk
Deze serie neemt je mee naar de verschillende “einden”, oftewel de dorpsgrenzen, van Den Ham.
Den Ham is een klein brinkdorp en heeft tegenwoordig circa 5830 inwoners (peildatum 1-1-2021). Het dorp wordt voor het eerst genoemd in 1333 en behoorde tot 1811 tot het schoutambt Ommen. Daarna vormden Den Ham en Vroomshoop samen de zelfstandige gemeente Den Ham.
Vanaf 1 januari 2001 is de Gemeente Den Ham opgegaan in de gemeente Vriezenveen. Op 1 juli 2002 veranderde de gemeente Vriezenveen haar naam in Twenterand.
Het gemeentehuis aan de Brinkstraat heeft tot 30 mei 2008 nog dienst gedaan, maar werd na het vergroten van het gemeentehuis in Vriezenveen gesloten. Tegenwoordig zijn hier kantoren en woning in gevestigd.

Parkeer de auto op het P-coördinaat van “CET’23 #01 Einde Den Ham – Kerkallee” om vervolgens de caches met de fiets te bezoeken. Neem de verschillende boerenweggetjes in het buitengebied van Den Ham en geniet van de mooie omgeving.
Vanaf de Leertendijk loop je zo Den Ham uit, even een rondje met de hond of gewoon een avondwandeling.
Laat de paarden met rust en benader deze niet!

#09 Einde Den Ham - Leertendijk
This series takes you to the different "ends", or the village limits, of Den Ham.
Den Ham is a small green village and currently has approximately 5830 inhabitants (reference date 1-1-2021). The village is first mentioned in 1333 and until 1811 belonged to the sheriff's office of Ommen. After that, Den Ham and Vroomshoop together formed the independent municipality of Den Ham.
As of January 1, 2001, the municipality of Den Ham has been merged into the municipality of Vriezenveen. On July 1, 2002, the municipality of Vriezenveen changed its name to Twenterand.
The town hall on Brinkstraat was still in service until May 30, 2008, but was closed after enlarging the town hall in Vriezenveen. Today, offices and homes are located here.

Park the car at the P coordinate at “CET’23 #01 Einde Den Ham – Kerkallee” and then visit the caches by bike. Take the various roads in the outskirts of Den Ham and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
From the Leertendijk you can walk straight out of Den Ham, just a round with the dog or just an evening walk.
Leave the horses alone and do not approach them!
