Altadena's Mt. Lowe Drive occupies the former right of way of the approach to historic Mt. Lowe railway. For many years the median has been a community green space, but in recent years drought conditions and water use restrictions made it impossible to maintain as a grass lawnscape. Beginning in 2022, Los Angeles County Public Works has undertaken the Mount Lowe Drive Re-landscaping Project, which has revitalized the parkway as place of native plants and wildflowers, and water-conserving features. A meandering walking path threads along the length of the park. Come visit this attractive new addition to Altadena's sights and sounds.
