The Geocaching Group @ Rome includes about 50 geocachers active in the province of Rome. We will meet to socialize with each other and with other geocachers who want to participate in the Event and we will also take the opportunity to discuss a common Project set along the wonderful Via Appia Antica. The urban stretch of the "Regina Viarum" affected by the initiative is about 5km long and goes from the Catacombs of San Sebastiano to the Mausoleum of Casal Rotondo, and is dotted with ancient archaeological finds, places of historical, artistic, architectural and naturalistic among the most beautiful in the world.
We will meet at 10 am at the Appia Antica Caffè, conveniently located along the route we will follow, and it has a large car park, as well as a bike rental facility. After breakfast, we will move to North West as far as the crossroads with Vicolo delle Sette Chiese, to then retrace our steps (or pedals). Around 1 pm there will be lunch, also at the Appia Antica Caffè. Then, around 2:30 pm we will continue towards South East as far as the crossroads with Via di Torricola, where our walk (or ride) will end, with arrival expected around 6 pm. From there you can eventually get back to the car park individually.
The use of a bicycle is strongly recommended to move quickly and easily along the route. On both sides of the Appia Antica there are two narrow paths suitable for Mountain Bikes or Hybrid Bikes.
Il Gruppo Geocaching @ Roma include circa 50 geocachers attivi nella provincia di Roma. Ci incontreremo per socializzare tra noi e con altri geocacher che vorranno partecipare all'Evento e ne approfitteremo anche per discutere un Progetto comune ambientato lungo la meravigliosa Via Appia Antica. Il tratto urbano della "Regina Viarum" interessato dall'iniziativa è lungo circa 5km e va dalle Catacombe di San Sebastiano al Mausoleo di Casal Rotondo ed è tempestato da antichi reperti archeologici, luoghi di interesse storico, artistico, architettonico e naturalistico tra i più belli del mondo.
Ci incontreremo alle ore 10 presso l'Appia Antica Caffè, convenientemente situato lungo il percorso che seguiremo, ed è dotato di un ampio parcheggio per auto, nonché di un punto affitto bici. Dopo aver consumato una colazione, ci muoveremo verso Nord Ovest, fino a raggiungere l'incrocio con Vicolo delle Sette Chiese, per poi tornare sui nostri passi (o pedali). Intorno alle 13 è previsto un pranzo, anch'esso all'Appia Antica Caffè. A setuire, intorno alle 14:30 proseguiremo verso Sud Est fino all'incrocio con Via di Torricola, dove terminerà la nostra passeggiata (o pedalata), con arrivo previsto intorno alle 18. Da lì si potrà tornare eventualmente al parcheggio individualmente.
E' caldamente consigliato l'uso della bicicletta per spostarsi rapidamente ed agevolmente lungo il tragitto. Ai due lati dell'Appia Antica sono presenti due stretti sentieri adeguati per Mountain Bikes o bici ibride.
