Welcome to the South Lyon City Trail! This paved trail system starts at Volunteer Park and goes North past Centennial Middle School and connects with the Rail Trail. This then veers west to Dixboro Road and ends while the East section goes through McHattie Park and along Reynolds Parkway then finally branching off once again, with the north section connecting to the Huron Valley Rail Trail system and the south section ending near Andover park at the nearby subdivision. This whole trail system is maintained under jurisdiction of the City of South Lyon. Enjoy this series and this trail as it will be quite a fun one.
For the series in particular, it will be a three part system with the first strech having 5 caches from 8 to 9 mile roads adjacent to Volunteer Park. Part 2 will start north of 9 mile near Centennial Middle School and continue up to an intersection then turn East and go thru McHattie Park. This section will contain around 7-10 hides. Finally, the section of trail that branches south of 10 mile and propagates down toward the South Lyon Cemetery and Andover Park will constitute Part 3, and that will contain 5 geocaches. There will be a bonus branch off sidequest series from the intersection to Dixboro road that will have 2-3 hides on it. In total there will be around 18-20 hides on this series (not including the bonus sidequest). There will be not final, enjoy the fun!
Anyway, for this particular hide you will arrive at a bridge on the Volunteer Park portion of the trail. I used to have a cache here back in the day so this is reminiscing that in a way. The container is a large lock n lock box unlike the previous hide which was a recycled protein shake container. There is room for many toys, trinkets, and trackables. Be sure that if you take something, leave something in return. Do not park along 8 mile road as there is a chance you could be ticketed for improper parking, please park at Volunteer Park. Be sure to wear bug spray as there can be tons of mosquitos and other insects out here so be mindful of that. Also please be stealthy, many muggles walk and bike this trail so make sure to hide the cache back well. Good Luck and Happy Caching :)
