Geocache Description:

A small town in the heart of Central Eyre Peninsula, Wudinna lies in the wheat belt of South Australia.  While more commonly known as the wheat belt, other grains are grown so there is now a lot of reference to the Grain Belt. These areas rely on rainfall for crop production and Wudinna only averages 300mm per annum.  And of course the rain has to come and go at just the right time for a good crop year to occur.  Some farmers supplement their income with livestock or out of season work.

This cache lies at the edge of the township where you can see farm paddocks. You are also adjacent to the Wudinna Cemetery, the Wudinna Horse Yards, the Wudinna walking and bike trail which takes you up to the granite rock formations, and you are across the road from the residential area.

If you look to the nearby intersection, you will see a resting station on the walking trail with table and chair setting.  Can you find the sculpted bird?

If you follow the walking trail out of town for about 50metres, you will see 3 kangaroo sculptures.  All of the sculptures by the artist are made from scrap metal.

It is recommended that you park at the public roadside cemetery car park & stroll the short distance to GZ, initially via the walking trail.  Due to the small population of Wudinna, the likelihood of cache hunting at the time of a funeral would be rare.  Please be respectful.

Please ensure cache is concealed when you leave.
