Geocache Description:

This former pay phone was bought and refurbished by Nailsea Town Council in 2021 and people were asked to come up with ideas about how it could be used in the future. A suggestion by a local resident was to use the box as a display area to show off the history of Nailsea Glassworks.

Nailsea Glass is known throughout the world and was established in the town in the 18th century by John Robert Lucas. The town was ideally suitable for a glassworks with a plentiful supply of sand and coal nearby. For a time the works was the 4th largest glassworks in the UK but problems with the supply of coal towards the end of the 19th century led to its eventual closure in 1873.

In 2018 the local council bought a collection of Nailsea Glass from the estate of a local resident and it was thought it would be a good idea to display a series of photographs of the collection for people to enjoy. Hence, the photographs were displayed in the windows of the old phone box.

In view of a number of other caches in the area, this cache has been set up as a Multi Cache so you need to answer the following questions to find the hiding place of the cache itself (it's not too far away!).

In what year was Nailsea Glassworks established - 17AB

What is the number on the light standard next to the old phone box - CD

To the right of the phone box (if you're facing the supermarket) is a bench. How many words are on the plaque are in capital letters? - EF

The cache can be found at N51 2(C+E).A(A-F)B W002 4(D+C+E).(B-F)(C/2)(F+(B/4))
