As you drive around Tasmania you may notice things dangling from the power lines. These are bird deflectors - placed to prevent eagles and other birds from injuring themselves by flying into the power lines. From a distance they seem very small but when you see them up close you can understand their effectiveness. As you drive north from this cache on the Great Eastern highway there is a signed "Eagle Safety Zone" with about 4 km of bird deflectors visible from the road.
At this cache you can see 3 different types of deflectors, as shown in the picture below. To see all three types you will need to look up and down. BYO pen.
