Geocache Description:

rkl in car, holding gps

rkl loved geocaching from the first time he found a geocache with nonnipoppy in 2004 in Nova Scotia.   He loved the hunt and the creativity of the geocaches, but – most of all – he loved the people he met and the friends he made along the way.   That was always his answer when someone asked: “What do you like the most about geocaching?”

One of his wishes was to have a geocache called “Final Find” on his headstone.    This geocache honors his wish and his memory.   Be careful with the container and place it back exactly as you found it.

While not required, it would be appreciated if you would honor his memory by writing something about him in your log.    You can even write a story about your adventures with him if you wish.  If you did not know him or have not heard of him, please write about your adventure finding this cache.

There is also a geocoin to be DISCOVERED.  This geocoin was designed by rkl and this particular geocoin always sat on his desk.    It is very special to the family so please do not take it.

A little history of Harmony Cemetery.   The land for Harmony Cemetery was once a part of Ron’s family.   It was donated by James Monroe Laster, Ron’s Great Grandfather, in 1869 when his son “Robert” died.   Over the years, the family has donated more land as needed.   If you look past the fence near rkl’s grave, everything you see is still owned by descendants of James Monroe Laster and his father Abraham Laster (Ron’s Great Great Grandfather).   Abraham was one of the three men chosen to pick the site of the county seat of Johnson County shortly after Arkansas became the 25th State on June 15, 1836.   Abraham and his family first came to this area in the early 1800’s.
