During World War II, about one and a half million Jews fought against the Nazis in the allied armies, in the ranks of the partisans and underground. In their fighting, they showed courage, determination and sacrifice. About a quarter of a million Jewish fighters fell in the war. The monument was erected in memory of those Jewish heroes who fought in World War II and in honor of the veterans who arrived in Tiberias. Every year, on the 9th of May, a memorial service is held in the memorial complex for Jewish soldiers in the Red Army who were killed during the war
