Canil e Gatil do Porto Santo/ Porto Santo kennel and cattery
O Canil/Gatil Municipal do Porto Santo, foi o primeiro Cento de Recolha Oficial de Animais (CRO) licenciado na Região Autónoma da Madeira. Está em funcionamento desde 2009 e a sua atividade, tem sido muito importante: (i) no controlo de animais errantes, (ii) na gestão de entregas voluntárias, (iii) na realização de campanhas de esterilização e profilaxia antirrábica e na (iv) identificação eletrónica dos animais da nossa comunidade.
A maioria dos animais que dão entrada no CRO, ocorrem por abandono no local de canídeos sem identificação e o principal objetivo é a sua esterilização e adoção.
Atualmente, o aumento crescente de animais errantes no concelho obrigou a Câmara a aceitar mais animais no Canil/Gatil, pelo que, neste momento, existem cerca de 50 gatos e 40 cães.
The Porto Santo Municipal Kennel / Cattery was the first Official Animal Collection Center (CRO) licensed in the Autonomous Region of Madeira. It has been operating since 2009 and its activity has been very important: (i) in the control of stray animals, (ii) in the management of voluntary deliveries, (iii) in carrying out sterilization and anti-rabies prophylaxis campaigns and in (iv) electronic identification of animals in our community.
Most of the animals that are admitted to the CRO occur due to the abandonment of unidentified canids at the site and the main objective is their sterilization and adoption.
Currently, the growing number of stray animals in the municipality has forced the Council to accept more animals in the kennel/cattery, so that, at the moment, there are around 50 cats and 40 dogs.
[A multi-cache/ The multicache]
A cache foi elaborada pelo grupo de voluntários - DOGUINHOSMADEIRA - e tem como finalidade, georreferenciar o Canil e Gatil do Porto Santo.
De modo a colocar a cache, foi necessária a autorização do vice-presidente da Câmara Municipal do Porto Santo. Neste sentido, pedimos responsabilidade no local.
A cache contém material de escrita, um diário, tal como, um “troféu” para o FTF. É um recipiente alusivo ao tema, do qual, realizamos com muito afeto. Tem espaço para a troca de TB’s. Por fim, pedimos atenção ao horário, pois este é reduzido e pode ter nuances.
The cache was prepared by the group of volunteers - DOGUINHOSMADEIRA - and its purpose is to georeference the Porto Santo Kennel and Cattery.
In order to place the cache, the authorization of the vice-president of the Municipality of Porto Santo was required. In this sense, we ask for responsibility on the spot.
The cache contains writing material, a diary, as well as a “trophy” for the FTF. It is a container alluding to the theme, which we carry out with great affection. It has space for the exchange of TBs. Finally, we ask you to pay attention to the timetable, as it is limited and may have nuances.

Esta multi-cache é composta apenas por uma etapa (física) que o levará diretamente para as coordenadas finais. Para resolver esta simples multi-cache, terá de visitar a etapa 1, e procurar um recipiente. O mesmo, contém a informação necessária para descobrir as coordenadas finais. Após obter as coordenadas finais, embarque até às mesmas (não está longe da etapa 1) com a certeza que encontrará uma boa cache.
As coordenadas finais encontram-se num espaço da Câmara Municipal e está sujeita a um horário. Não é preciso interagir com algum funcionário. Pode buscá-la, e fazer o registo mesmo ali, ou pode também, levar a cache até às cadeiras de espera, mesmo ao lado, que tem uma mesa de apoio. Faça como preferir e sentir-se mais confortável. Os funcionários no local estão informados da cache.
This multi-cache is composed only by a step (physics) that will take you directly to the final coordinates. To resolve this simple multi-cache, you'll have to visit step 1, and look for a container. The same, contains the necessary information to discover the final coordinates. After obtaining the final coordinates, go to them (it is not far from stage 1) with the certainty that you will find a good cache.
The final coordinates are found in a space in the City Hall and are subject to a timetable. No need to interact with any employee. You can pick it up and register right there, or you can also take the cache to the waiting chairs, right next to it, which has a side table. Do as you prefer and feel more comfortable. Staff on site are informed of the cache.

Segunda-feira a sexta-feira - 09:00 às 12:30 / 14:00 às 17:30.
Sábado, domingo e feriados – encerrado.
- Caso visitem o espaço e esteja encerrado, apesar do horário de funcionamento, pedimos que esperem um pouco ou voltem outro dia pois, a equipa pode estar em algum resgate ou noutras funções igualmente necessárias em prol do canil/gatil fora do espaço.
- Pode conhecer os animais do canil e gatil do Porto Santo com a devida autorização e acompanhamento.
Monday to Friday – 09:00 to 12:30 / 14:00 to 17:30.
Saturday, Sunday and holidays – closed.
- If you visit the space and it is closed, despite the opening hours, we ask you to wait a little or come back another day, as the team may be involved in some rescue or other equally necessary functions in favor of the kennel / cattery outside the space.
- You can meet the animals in the Porto Santo kennel and cattery with proper authorization and supervision.
