Geocache Description:

Andrew Davidson's house on this site was burned by Indians who carried off his wife, and by another account their five children.  The marker sign indicates that the children were killed.  Perhaps it was later, after they were taken away. Mrs. Davidson was pregnant at the time.  Around Logan, WV, Mrs. Davidson gave birth.  She was given two hours rest and the journey continued.

Joseph Davidson was an Indian spy during the Revolutionary War.  He and his brothers, one of whom was Andrew, were well known and highly respected in the area, as well as owning a substantial amount of land.  He was appointed justice of the peace by the governor of Virginia. His house, built about 1796, was moved to this location in 1939 to to make room for Park Central school.  Booker T. Washington's second wife Olivia A. Davidson was born of free parents a the house.

Very small container, BYO pen.
