Geocache Description:

Keizer Culture is a series of caches that aim to highlight looked-over or interesting tidbits of Keizer's history. No Internet research or visiting locations this time--this cache is just a regular old Traditional.

The Salem-Keizer area has a multitude of wonderful and expansive parks. Keizer Rapids, Minto-Brown, Riverfront, and Wallace Marine parks are all popular attractions, known for their many activities. However, quite a few smaller parks exist as well, and many of them go unnoticed by the vast majority of Keizer's citizens.

Palma Ceia Park is nothing special; it's a very small park, only .80 acres of land. It doesn't offer disc golf, or boating, or even much hiking. Much of the area is covered in thorns and vines, making travel all but impossible, save for a thin crisscross of short trails. The park is a riverside park, and features access to the riverbank. That's about it, really. Just five minutes of hiking, enough parking for two cars, and access to the river.

I've always liked this little park. It's the little things that have made the most difference for me, and Palma Ceia is certainly one of those little things. I very rarely encounter anyone else when I visit, and enjoy sitting along the riverside, enjoying the water go by. Sunsets in the park are especially stunning, and probably the most spectacular thing the park has to offer. Even Keizer Rapids is hard-pressed to emulate a view as magnificent as the one from the riverbank.

Maybe I'm exaggerating. Maybe it's just my mind thinking this park is something that it's not. But for me, the thought is all that matters. The reassuring thought in the back of my mind, that reminds me that I'll always have someplace to go to watch the sunset by myself.

As for the cache, it's well-hidden but not really evil. Terrain varies based on the time of year, and watch out for thorns/bugs/poison oak. Coords may bounce, so use your geosenses. President Washington awaits the FTF.
