Flotilla time!!! This event is put on in tribute to the marvellous flotilla that bflentje hosted earlier this summer.
This event is similarly mixing it up a bit and branching out away from land and into the water for a fun summer meet up.

Location: Nokomis Lake, Nokomis, N 44° 54.629' W 93° 14.541'
Date: Saturday July 22th, 2023
Time: 10:30 till about 11:15am
Requirements: You MUST get to the posted coordinates of the event before the event ends in order to properly attend this event. Attendance from shore will NOT be allowed. Event hosts can no longer require you to sign an event log but you must be in attendance in order to log this event as Attended.
NOTE: Motorized boats are NOT allowed on Nokomis Lake. Any reference to boat implies canoe, kayak, paddleboat, catamaran, raft, stand up paddleboard, dingie, or some other non-motorized waterborne vehicle. Don't bring your ski boat or fishing jet boat and expect to make it to GZ.
NOTE: Bring Sunscreen.
Be sure to get underway ON TIME as the flotilla will only be floating around for about an hour. There are some varieties of boat rentals available at the beach for a fee in case you don't have a boat, forgot to bring one, or just don't want to team up with others. Swimming outside the lifeguarded buoy marked area is against the rules (except for swim club members at specified times) and will potentially result in a fine, so to reach the coordinates you have to travel in / on / with a boat.
Launch your boat either at the official boat launch or either side of the buoy marked swimming area on the west side of the lake. The official boat launch is there to facilitate larger craft that have to be launched via trailer. A boat inspector is posted there to check for invasive species like zebra mussels that frequent larger hard bodied watercraft. No boats are allowed in the swimming area. Limited on street parking is available for free as well as plentiful paid parking.
There are 3 lifeguards overseeing the swim area and we are in view of them. We have permission to hold this event from Nokomis park recreation supervisor Jotika Weitz-Handy. The lifeguards are aware of the event as well, though it is a large team and the information may not have disseminated to all of them. Behind the lifeguards is a first aid station in case anything goes awry.
This event is rated 1/5. The terrain is rated a 5 because special equipment is required in order to get to GZ for the event. There are only two things that will prevent this event from taking place: thunderstorms or ever worsening air quality.
