Geocache Description:

"Crack the paddles"

Welcome to our "Crack the paddles" series. 18 caches that are designed to be accessed by sup, kayak or canoe. Situated on the lovely peaceful stretch of the Ashby canal between Snarestone and Shackerstone. All placed on the opposite side to the tow path, some will be visible, some will be out of site..

Between No 17 & 18 you will go through Snarestone tunnel which is about 228m long. It gets very dark in the middle so you must use a torch when going through. It doesn't get that busy but keep an eye out for oncoming barges/boats

Please only attempt these if you are physically able to and have the correct equipment to access these caches. No point risking your life just to sign a piece of paper.

There are various parking places along the canal. See Crack the paddles 1 for more info

Did you know if you want to canoe, kayak or stand up paddleboard on many of our rivers and canals (including Ashby canal) you will need a licence to do so.
