A few metres from this cache is a lime kiln - the quick lime produced would have been used for encouraging plant growth on the fields, whitewashing walls and disinfectant in animal stalls. Worth stopping and taking a look.
This cache is another stop on the Priest's Way, the route medieval priests would have taken to conduct services in their churches in Worth Matrevers and Swanage. As I walked to prepare this cache I thought of the priests trudging in the winter marking points like this lime kiln in their journey. This cache can be done as a one off walking up from the main road or as part of the series which I am (slowly) getting out.
