那須野ヶ原には、縦横に用水路が張り巡らされています。
用水路には、所々に落差が設けられ、水の流れを調整しています。
この落差を利用したのが百村（もむら）第一発電所と第二発電所です。
百村第一発電所は、発電出力が30ｋｗの水車が一基で、2006年4月に発電を開始しました。

Momura No. 1 Power Station has a single water turbine with a power output of 30 kW, and started generating power in April 2006.
