Geocache Description:

The Waterloo Colliery Railway ran for several miles, linking the coal staithes in Cross Green, Neville Hill and Thwaite Gate sidings, and the several pit heads of the Waterloo Colliery. Much of the area, along Pontefract Lane (then a single track road, now a dual carriageway), has been extensively redeveloped and most traces of the trackbed and associated infrastructure have been obliterated. But if you know where to look, evidence still exists of the railway, which was finally closed and lifted in the 1960s.

You're stood very close to the eastern extremity of the network. The standard guage network carried coal (of course) but also bought in miners and other colliery staff from East End Park. The staff service was known as the 'Paddy Train', apparently due to the nationality of many of its users. It consisted of a small tank engine and a pair of elderly carriages that were said to be long past their sell by date. Coal trains ceased with the closure of the pits in the 1960s, but the Paddy train ended in 1959, in favour of a replacement bus service! Pictured are the carriages after withdrawal, stabled at Temple Pit in the late summer of 1965..

You're looking for a small bison, hidden inside a larger host. Please mind the barbed wire. Placed with kind permission of Temple Newsam Estate. Good luck

Congratluations to 0RIN0C0 on their FTF.
