Geocache Description:

Dromana Drive-In

Dromana 3 Drive-In is an iconic Peninsula landmark and has been since 1962. Some websites list 1961, but I am going with 1962 until proven otherwise. It was built by a man called Whitaker who had been involved with films since the 1930’s. His son, Paul, and his family still run the business and there are now four screens or ‘fields’ with one now for deck chairs.

The first film screened was Rodgers and Hammerstein’s ‘State Fair’ starring Pat Boone. I heard a rumour that Mary Field was going to play Ann Margaret’s part, but she fell in a lane and broke her leg just weeks before shooting began. Tragic!

I have some memories of watching some films here in the early 70s with my brother and father. One that has stayed with me was Roman Polanski’s ‘Macbeth’ in 1971. Given that I was a young child, it gave me nightmares for years. What was my father thinking?

As there is an excellent cache nearby, (Stuck In the Boot), I have made this one a puzzle and have hidden the cache just a little bit away from the Drive-In. It is fairly straightforward (and, after I have changed the original publication, you can find all answers at home.)

The cache is a reboot of my first hide (Burwood Skyline) so I hope you enjoy this as much as finders enjoyed that one.
