Cooks River Biking Adventure

Sunday, 17th September, 2023

Gough Whitlam Park, Earlwood

Geocaching NSW would like to invite all geocachers to attend our next event, a Meet'n'Greet in Gough Whitlam Park, Earlwood in the vicinity of the cafe area.

Those who attend will have the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends with a common interest, pick up the latest information on equipment, techniques and software, share stories about the latest caching adventure and swap travel bugs and geocoins. You may even pick up a hint on those pesky DNFs or get a clue or two on how to solve a puzzle cache you’ve been stumped on.

Details of the event are as follows:

Date: Sunday, 17th September, 2023.

Event Time: 10:00am to 11:00am.

Location: Gough Whitlam Park, Earlwood.

How to Find Us: Just look for our portable gazebo and Geocaching NSW banner.

Parking: There is a parking area nearby. Access off Bayview Ave. See parking waypoint.

Cost: There is no cost to attend this event.

Refreshments: Food and drink are available from the nearby cafe if you wish to purchase. Please BYO sufficient personal food/drink requirements for the bike ride activity.

Photo: A group photo will be taken during the event.

Dogs: Your geopup is permitted to attend but must be kept under control on a leash.

The Bike Ride: After the Meet'n'Greet event, join us for the Cooks River Cycleway ride, departing at approximately 11.15am. The track length from Gough Whitlam Park to Freshwater Park, Strathfield is 12km, one way. If you wish to do a shorter ride, you can always turn around on the track at any time and return back to Gough Whitlam Park.

Here's an idea, why not leave the car at home altogether? Bikes can be taken on trains and ferries (at no cost). Travel by train to Tempe Station (no lift for your bike) or Wolli Creek Station (there is a lift here). Then cycle along another section of the Cooks River Cycleway to the event. After enjoying the event and the Cooks River Cycleway ride up to Freshwater Park, travel to Flemington Station (there is a lift here) for your return journey home.

For more information about the Cooks River Cycleway, Google it or check out the Sydney Cycle Paths website at the following link……

Please post your "Will Attend" so you can receive announcements about this event.

Here's hoping you can come along and help make this event an enjoyable social geocaching gathering.

Cheers,
