As the crow flies Northamptonshire to Bristol sure is a hilly journey across the Cotswolds. Here are some facts about the tenth county in the series, Northamptonshire:
 

  • Corby and Kettering are the main towns, Northampton is the largest
  • One of the oldest houses within the county is the Prebendal Manor
  • La Pazienza in Northampton is the best place for pizza and anitpasti
  • Dr Martens are made in the county, as are Weetabix and Carlsberg
  • Arbury Hill is the county's highest point - it is 225 metres to the top
  • Since 1665 'Rosa Concordia Signum' has been the county's motto
  • Head to Rushden Lakes in Nene Valley to canoe, kayak or waterski
  • British GP circuit Silverstone is located just south of Northampton
  • You can visit Althorpe House estate, where Lady Diana was laid to rest
