Misery Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Geo-Knot: While I love the idea of a cache on an island, I am archiving this cache (for many reasons). I invite others to come up with creative locations for a cache!

Geocache Description:

This cache is located on an island in the Salem Sound.

The high difficulty rating is due to the fact that you cannot just drive your car to the trailhead. If you have a boat you can get there on your own, but there is no dock, so you will want to either bring a dingy or be prepared to get a little wet. It is an easy landing for row boats, canoes, and kayaks. If you have experience with one of these you should have no problem getting there, as long as you can find a nearby place to put it in. Note: This cache is inaccessible in the winter months. The ocean and terrain can be very dangerous and unforgiving in the off season. For this reason, I would recommend not attempting this one in the winter.

Once on the island there is a small entrance fee ($3 / adult.) The island has a lot to offer besides the cache, so once you have found it, you may like to take some time and explore. It is not necessary to do any real bush whacking to find this cache. I tell you this because I don’t think that The Trustees of Reservations would appreciate people trekking through the bushes here. There is some poison ivy to watch for, but if you know what it looks like, you should be able to steer clear of it.

Once you have found it, you know the drill, take something leave something, log your visit and take a picture of you or your group. When you log your visit on geocaching.com, please indicate if the camera has a low number of pictures remaining.
