Geocache Description:

Come for the cache, stay for the Witch's Foot and fornicating caribou.

What a short, strange cache it is.

The cache is located at Ethridge's Point on the South Side of Joe Batt’s Arm, Fogo Island - a great scenic area which is ideal for families to picnic and barbeque, or just sit quietly and inhale the pristine air rolling over the sea. Turn left on the road as it forks toward Tilting.

The first thing you need to see is the Witch’s Foot. It’s an absolute must-see in terms of quirky Fogo Island attractions. A large footprint is embedded in a rock on Ethridges Point - the opposite foot is said to be located approximately one mile away on Hackett's Point. As legend has it, the witch that made this imprint stepped from one point to another and drowned while making the giant leap. If your foot fits in the Witch’s Foot, good news – you can reach the cache via broom and spare the hiking.

The cache is placed on the rolling rock barrens past the softball field, (look for the pole trail markers.) A muddy trail leads away past a fenced seaside pasture. Once there, part from the trail and find the cache at a crevasse in a cluster of rocks.

When we placed the cache, we looked up to see a herd of about 20 caribou – some of them in the throes of – er- romance. Got some great pictures (once they had disengaged), which we’ll post on our site.

The cache contains:

Newfoundland Trailway Pin
Royal Airforce Pin
Postcards
Fridge Magnets
20% off gift certificates for Alcock and Brown Restaurant, Gander
Tatoos from Parks Canada

We have placed four caches in total on unforgettable Fogo Island. Prior to visiting, we encourage you to check the ferry schedule.

This cache is one of 30 being placed on the Kittiwake Coast. For more details, visit our site. Good caching!
