Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Wandering Words Series! This geocache series brings together our shared loves of literature, the written word and geocaching as means to discover more about this city. Each geocache features literary inspiration, whether that be a cache themed after a famous work or simply an excerpt to read that a location or the cache itself reminds us of.

This is a geocache best enjoyed at sunset or sunrise as it takes you to a lovely, unexpected location it to enjoy over a beautiful view of Vancouver and the Burrard Inlet, and down below we've left you a little poem to read while you relax in your seat. This cache is located in the historical Vancouver Heights neighbourhood, the precessor to the Burnaby Heights. At one point, this area was primarily occupied by vacation homes and cabins; but in 1908, following the installation of an urban streetcar system that made the district more accessible for settlement, more permanent homes and schools were established. Head over a couple blocks if you wish to visit the historic Franklin School, built in 1926!

---

OUT of the sunset's red

Into the blushing sea,

The winds of day drop dead

And dreams come home to me. —

The sea is still,- and apart

Is a stillness in my heart.

The night comes up the beach,

The dark steals over all,

Though silence has no speech

I hear the sea-dreams call

To my heart; — and in reply

It answers with a sigh.
