Figured that the hamlet of Carmi, BC, was in need of a hotel for the trackables. Made IHO the Carmi Gold Mining Company (CGMC).
The Carmi past-producing mine is located immediately south of Carmi, British Columbia. The area has been explored since 1895, when placer gold was discovered on China Creek, approximately 8 kilometres to the north east. The Carmi claim was first staked in 1896 by J.C. Dale. The mining operation took place between 1896 and 1980. The Carmi has produced 4780 tonnes of ore intermittently between 1901 and 1915, then annually between 1932 and 1940. Recovery included 279,585 grams of silver, 87,929 grams of gold, 3179 kilograms of lead and 7303 kilograms of zinc. The combined Carmi and Butcher Boy occurrences include at least 1100 metres of underground workings. Since this time, the Carmi and B.A. Fraction claims have been acquired by J.V. Hinks and J.A. Olinger.
My first hide and signature geocache. Hidden off the left side of the road, is this cache. Feel free to add or take from the trackable collection, but make sure to view each trackables mission before taking and log them once you do. Please replace as found, covering with grass so that it won't be spotted by muggles easily. Lastly, if you want to go for short but scenic adventure, if you follow the road up, it will lead to Beacon Lake and the cell tower where you can get some stunning mountain views. Happy trails.
