Driving past the Heckston United Church evokes fond memories of 1981. Back then I was a student and my summer job was in Ottawa. The 80’s were a time of high interest rates, around 20%, and higher gas prices. So the government of Ontario subsidized programs to encourage carpooling. For the summer, I parked at the Heckston United Church and hitched a ride on a 12-seater van.
The cache is not at the posted co-ordinates. Heckston United Church is the starting point of a short commute to your destination. Walk around this pretty country church to collect numbers that will lead you to the cache.
Starting at the front of the church, there are two dates carved in stone above the door. A is the digital root of the date when the Presbyterian church was first built.
Turning right and going around to the north side of the church, there is a sign on the northeast corner. B is the number of letters in the second word on this sign.
Continuing on the north side, there is a stained glass window depicting a burning xxxx. C is the digital root of xxxx.
Passing the back of the church and proceeding to the south side, there are three more stained glass windows, one of which is a sign of peace. D is the number of letters in the name of this symbol.
Back at the front of the church, E is the second digit in the municipal address of the church.
