Geocache Description:

When the immigrant Raub brothers, Peter and George, arrived in the colonies in 1730  they set about acquiring 3 land patents totaling over 318 acres in the area that now bears their name, Raubsville. In 1781, Johannes Georg Raub (also known as Hans Jerg or George) was buried at this site on his property. George Raub's wife, Maria Barbara (Eckert) Raub was the second grave at this site the following year in 1780. What started as a family farm cemetery became a community cemetery as the next graves marked at this site included other members of the community: Abraham Arnd Srin 1795 , George Henry Kleinhans in 1801,  Dr  Johann Peter Seller in 1803, and Elizabeth Kleinhans Zeller in 1807. In 1810, the Raub family officially deeded a half-acre of George Raub's original 168 acre farm to establish a community cemetery now known as Raubsville Cemetery, at this site. Many of Williams Townships other original settlers and their descendants have since been buried here. Over the years the cemetery has expanded to 4 acres and currently holds 820 graves and has added a columbarium with niches to hold cremation urns. This geocache takes you to the oldest part of the cemetery.
