In 1834, a group calling itself the "Christian Society" assembled and held their prayer meetings in various homes in the area. They surged forward under the leadership of Woodring, Best, Brotzman, Unangst and Long families and under the trusteeship of Jacob Bond and Isaac Deemer, to build a permanent church. In 1839, John Deemer and his wife deeded to the "Evangelical Association and Christian Society of Williams Township" a parcel of land now occupied by a portion of the present cemetery. Here, a stones-throw from the present church, a house of worship was built. The congregation soon outgrew the church building and additional adjacent land was purchased from Henry Wolf and his wife for construction of the present "Blue Church". The cemetery remains behind the Blue Church and currently contains 158 graves, dated from 1843 to 2020.
