Geocache Description:

This geocache was placed by the HACC Alpha Nu Omega Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.  This is part of a school project called Honors In Action with a theme of Nostalgia as Play.  This is one of five caches we are placing in this series.  We hope you find them all!  We need your help!

Please read below, enjoy the cache, and consider filling out our survey as part of our research project.  Nostalgia as Play - Lancaster . Please note, this is completely optional.

Nostalgia

The Lancaster Center was created in 1989 in the Burle Industries Business Park with just 362 students.  The very next year it was recognized as HACC’s Lancaster Campus by the Department of Education.  Gaining popularity, bigger space was required and the campus began developing where you are now.  The East Building, closest to the cache, was then added in 2004.  This community has grown this location to over five times the size in 1989 and now offers 45 different degree programs.

Play

I used to think that play was just for kids, but as an adult I’ve realized I love it just as much! Whenever I take a break to play a game or do something creative, I feel more energized and focused when I come back to work or regular life.  It’s incredible how much potential there is to possibly assist with burnout or stress.

One great thing about this property is the nature trail.  You can leave this geocache and follow it right to the Conestoga Trail System, winding alongside the Conestoga River.  Walking near water will always be considered play (and maybe skipping just a few stones!)

Nostalgia as Play

Through geocaching, we are combining the act of play with exploring some local history.  Our region is filled with so many beautiful parks, historical buildings and landmarks, miles of trails  and so much more that can be discovered through geocaching!

You are actively playing RIGHT NOW and contributing to your physical and mental health, and we are excited to have you as part of our project.  Thank you for making time in your day to play and explore some HACC history!

Don’t forget to check out our project survey.

Happy caching!
