Il bandito Ciatico era molto temuto nella zona ed in quanto modenese era sicuramente il più cattivo di tutti. La sua taglia era di mille scudi d'oro, altissima, ma nessuno osava denunciarlo fino a che da un piccolo paese un abitante, soprattutto per il bottino, si fece coraggio e lo tradì: "Vidi Ciatico" disse, da allora il paese si chiama così, Vidiciatico.
Altri studiosi, professoroni, indagano sull'etimologia del nome in dialetto Viciadgo che deriverebbe da vedgo (frasca, rametto, pollone) ottenendo interessanti teorie, ma completamente sbagliate.
Vidiciatico, come tutti i paesi appenninici, è ricco di scorci suggestivi ed angoli storici. Per questa cache ho scelto il lavatoio, non antichissimo poiché risalente al 1950, ma di indubbio fascino. Fu costruito per volere del Sindaco così da permettere alle donne di lavare ancora i panni in paese dopo la copertura del canale Gurione che attraversava il borgo.
Dopo aver firmato il logbook, consiglio la visita alla piazza antica del paese proprio lì accanto, che si raggiunge varcando uno dei quattro piccoli sottopassi. Sono tanti altri gli angoli storici e suggestivi, altre piazzette e chiese.
