Pyhä-Luoston 35 kilometriä pitkä, Suomen eteläisin tunturijono, syntyi yli 2 miljardia vuotta sitten. Tunturijono muodostaa Pyhä-Luoston kansallispuiston ydinosan. Lampivaara on yksi tämän tunturijonon 12:sta huipusta.
The basic zone of the Pyhä-Luosto National Park is formed of Finland’s most southern fell chain. The fell chain between Pyhä and Luosto comprises by 12 fell-tops covering 35 km. Lampivaara is one them.
