Welcome to one a favorite destination spot along Lady Bird Lake! Tucked beneath Mopac, this area is a well-traveled point along the trail and serves as the last western pedestrian from the most popular section. If you start your loop here and head east, the next crossing is the Pedestrian Bridge near Lamar—making for a great ~3-mile circuit.
When I first started running years ago, none of this infrastructure existed. This spot was just a quiet turnaround point where a local company generously left a giant cooler of water for thirsty runners. Today, things look a little different: drinking fountains, people enjoying the water below, a nice view, and bathrooms across the street. It’s become a lively part of the trail, and a nostalgic one for me.
As for the cache—good luck! Rock hides can be rough, but this one shouldn’t be too difficult. That said, if it’s raining… you might want to keep a watch up for up above!
Because we’re standing under a large cement structure, GPS reception can be unreliable. If you find your coordinates bouncing around, don’t be shy about using the hint.
