North Head, traditionally known as Car-rang-gel, has enduring significance for the Gayamagal People.
The Koradgee (medicine men and women healers) occupied the area intermittently and performed highly spiritual and cultural ceremonies and rituals.
This magnificent location was also one of Sydney’s most heavily fortified military sites and played a significant role in the national chain of coastal defence, with a series of military installations and a large network of underground tunnels.
Footpaths and bike tracks are open sunrise to sunset. The Visitor Centre is open from 10am to 3pm daily. The nearby Bella Vista cafe is open weekdays 9am - 4pm and weekends 8am - 5pm. Location: The cache is located at North Fort Battery, which is part of the Harbour Trust's beautiful and interesting North Head Sanctuary. There is no need to step on any plants or disrupt the natural beauty. Stealth is required, especially on the weekend. This place can get pretty busy and muggles can appear suddenly from multiple directions. Don't forget to leave time to look for the other North Head caches and check out all of the interesting historical sites and beautiful natural scenery.
The Cache: The target is a small (but not micro) bison tube which looks like it should suit the location. This should be a quick find as it is hidden in a fairly obvious spot. :) NOTE: You may need a TOT. There are plenty available around the cache, just be careful when you are replacing the cache. Please bring your own pen. Please replace exactly as found, with the cache fully inserted and carefully placed back in position.
