Inspired by this month's Wheel of Challenges, we created this E-Vent Challenge to promote teamwork among geocachers. Event Caches are not that common, so this will help you meet August's Wheel of Challenges, where the goal is to find different types of caches:
Easy Level Souvenir:
- Traditional Cache
- Event Cache (Like this one!)
- Adventure Lab Cache
Hard Level Souvenir also requires:
- Virtual Cache
- EarthCache
- Multi-Cache
- Mystery Cache
- Letterbox Hybrid
What do I do? Any time after this event listing is published, but prior to the in-person event, the challenge is for you to collect pictures of your geocaching name along with an identifiable feature from each of the four Junior Bollard cache properties (four pictures total). The feature that you choose might be the main building sign, the Junior Bollard container, or another interesting element that makes the site unique. If you choose to participate in this pre-event challenge, you can visit each site yourself, or you could enlist a partner or form a remote team to take pictures/collect information for each other. If you need a buddy, say so when you make your "will attend" log and use the electronic messaging tools on the Geocaching website to coordinate with each other. When you post your attendance log (on the day of the event) include your four pictures in the log, like the example below.
If you haven't already found the Junior Bollard series, this would be a great time to do that as well so that you (or your partners) can collect all of the information needed for Junior Bollard Bonus Letterbox, which is very near the event site. The four bollard caches are linked below and are listed as waypoints on this event listing:
Junior Bollard #1 - Adams GC8GVX9
Junior Bollard #2 - Marshfield GC8GWM7
Junior Bollard #3 - Stevens Point GC8TAFG
Junior Bollard #4 - Wisconsin Rapids GC8GWKC
If you choose to meet up with your budd(ies) at this event you could share the clues to find the Junior Bollard Bonus Letterbox (Letterbox caches are not that common either). In fact, in Wisconsin Rapids, on the property where this event is taking place, you can also find a Multicache, and choose from a few different Traditional and Mystery caches depending on what appeals to you. A few of our caches were even highlighted in a recent WGA newsletter from April 2023.
What about the other cache types? There are Adventure Labs in all of the Junior Bollard cities except Adams, and there are one Virtual and two Earthcaches in Stevens Point. At Roche-a-Cri State Park north of Adams, there are all of the hard-level cache types needed to complete the Wheel of Challenges requirements if that is your goal.
Mid-State Technical College's mascot Grit will be at the E-vent for photo opportunities and to share a snack.
There are NO requirements to fill in order to log this event other than simply attending. All other items on this page are just for fun.
