A new orchard has been created on Putney Lower Common during winter 2023.
Twelve new fruit trees of different varieties are planted as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy and will serve as a lasting tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s extraordinary service.
Three cherry trees, three pear trees and six apple trees are forming the orchard and the trees have been carefully chosen so that they establish and then thrive in the soil conditions (unfortunately one of the trees didn't survive the winter...).
