Ilhéu Preto
Boaventura é uma freguesia portuguesa do município de São Vicente, com 26.2 km2; de área e 1034 habitantes, de acordo com o censo de 2021. A oeste, faz fronteira com a freguesias da Ponta Delgada e de São Vicente. A este, faz fronteira com as freguesias do Arco de São Jorge e de São Jorge. A sul faz fronteira com a freguesia do Curral das Freiras. Tem costa no Oceano Atlântico onde existem dois conhecidos ilhéus: o Ilhéu Vermelho e o Ilhéu Preto, nomes atribuídos devido ao tipo de rocha que os compõem, respetivamente tufo vulcânico e basalto.
Sobre a Geocache
Esta Geocache encontra-se no Ilhéu Preto, sendo necessário nadar até o mesmo. É expressamente desaconselhado fazer esta geocache quando o mar está agitado. A dificuldade prende-se em encontrar um dia em que haja condições para aceder ao ilhéu. Tratando-se da costa norte da ilha, mesmo nos dias em que o mar esteja nas melhores condições, poderá haver ocasionais ondas e correntes que dificultam a chegada a nado, a entrada e a saída do ilhéu. Se acha que as condições não estão favoráveis é porque provavelmente não estão, caso em que nem deve entrar na água.
Caso tenha conseguido chegar em segurança ao ilhéu, outro desafio é alcançar o GZ, visto ser necessário trepar as rochas, não sendo, porém, necessário qualquer equipamento de escalada. Recomenda-se apenas a utilização de calçado confortável para proteção contra as rochas aguçadas. O local recomendado para abordar o ilhéu é do lado oeste, conforme ilustrado na fotografia em baixo.

Ilhéu Preto
Boaventura is a Portuguese parish in the municipality of São Vicente, with an area of 26.2 km2; and 1034 inhabitants, according to the 2021 census. To the west, it borders the parishes of Ponta Delgada and São Vicente. To the east, it borders the parishes of Arco de São Jorge and São Jorge. To the south it borders the parish of Curral das Freiras. It has a coastline on the Atlantic Ocean where there are two well-known islets: Ilhéu Vermelho and Ilhéu Preto, names attributed due to the type of rock that compose them, respectively volcanic tuff and basalt.
About the Geocache
This Geocache is located on Ilhéu Preto, and it is necessary to swim to it. It is expressly not recommended to do this geocache when the sea is rough. The difficulty is in finding a day when there are conditions to access the islet. As this is the north coast of the island, even on days when the sea is in the best conditions, there may be occasional waves and currents that make it difficult to swim, enter and leave the islet. If you think the conditions aren't favorable, probably they aren't, in which case you shouldn't even go in the water.
If you managed to reach the islet safely, another challenge is to reach the GZ, as it is necessary to climb the rocks, however, no climbing equipment is needed. It is only recommended to use comfortable footwear to protect against sharp rocks. The recommended place to board the islet is from the west side, as shown in the picture above.
