Geocache Description:

This cache is dedicated to one of my most favorite stories of all time!

"THE MAN WHO PLANTED TREES"  by Jean Giono published in 1953

It was adapted into an animated short film and can be found on the web. I encourage you to find it and watch it. You'll never be the same and will want to share it with friends and family...

The story is of one shepherd's long and successful single-handed effort to re-forest a desolate valley in the foothills of the Alps throughout the first half of the 20th century. The message of perserverance and dedication to the well-being of others is profound. The story itself is said to have had such an effect on readers that many have believed that Elzéard Bouffier was a genuine historical figure and that the narrator of the story was a young Jean Giono himself, and that the tale is part autobiographical. Giono did live during this time, and while he was alive Giono enjoyed allowing people to believe that the story was real, and considered it as a tribute to his skill.

At this cache location there is overhanging trees by a wall which can give you a bouncy signal so be patient with it. The best place to park for this one is either in the Goodwill parking lot to the north or street parking by my Aron Ralston cache to the south. This one is kind of in the middle so a little walking is required. Please replace this cache exactly as found or a little better to preserve the experience for future finders.

This area is right near my home base and my Elk Grove Park where you can find a plethera of Frutcheyclan caches! Thought this string of 3 along the nearby frontage road would add to the adventure for all those seeking to get as many caches as possible in one go. Hope you enjoy the journey!
