Knižnica pre mládež
Knižnica pre mládež mesta Košice, ktorej zriaďovateľom je Mesto Košice, je verejnou mestskou knižnicou. Vo svojej činnosti sa prioritne zameriava na prácu s deťmi, mládežou a rodinami.
Vznikla v roku 1955 odčlenením detského oddelenia Krajskej ľudovej knižnice (dnešná Knižnica Jána Bocatia) v Košiciach pod názvom Krajská detská knižnica. V priebehu svojej histórie niekoľkokrát zmenila svoj názov. Verejnosť ju poznala tiež pod názvom Okresná knižnica pre mládež, Krajská knižnica pre mládež, Mestská knižnica pre deti a mládež a v súčasnosti nesie názov Knižnica pre mládež mesta Košice. Jej vznik sa spája s veľkým pilotným projektom z čias spoločného štátu Česko a Slovenska, ktorého cieľom bolo založiť špeciálne knižnice pre deti a mládež v každom krajskom meste po celom Československu.
Na konci prvého roku svojej existencie mala knižnica jedinú pobočku (3 miestnosti) so sídlom na Leninovej ulici č. 63 (dnešná Hlavná ulica), evidovala A B28 čitateľov, CD E39 výpožičiek a v jej knižničnom fonde sa vtedy nachádzalo celkove 5 92F zväzkov.
The Košice City Youth Library, whose founder is the City of Košice, is a public municipal library. In its activities it focuses primarily on work with children, youth and families.
It was founded in 1955 by separating the children's department of the Regional People's Library (today's Jan Bocatio Library) in Košice under the name of the Regional Children's Library. In the course of its history it changed its name several times. The public has also known it under the names District Library for Youth, Regional Library for Youth, Municipal Library for Children and Youth, and currently it bears the name Library for Youth of Košice. Its foundation is connected with a large pilot project from the times of the common state of Czechoslovakia and Slovakia, which aimed to establish special libraries for children and youth in every regional town throughout Czechoslovakia.
At the end of the first year of its existence, the library had a single branch (3 rooms) located at Leninova Street No. 63 (today's Hlavná Street), recorded A B28 readers, CD E39 borrowings, and had a total of 5 92F volumes in its library collection at that time.
Výnimočné výsledky pri realizácii odborných činností a poskytovaní služieb vynieslo Knižnici pre mládež mesta Košice titul Knižnica roka 2021. Zástupcovia knižnice si pre ocenenie vycestovali do Bratislavy, kde si ho slávnostne prevzali z rúk ministerky kultúry.
Knižnica pre mládež mesta Košice sa úspešne uchádzala o titul Knižnica roka 2021 v kategórii Výnimočný prínos inštitúcií v oblasti kultúrneho dedičstva alebo kultúrno-osvetovej činnosti. Podaním žiadosti reflektovala na výzvu Ministerstva kultúry SR na predkladanie návrhov na udelenie Ceny ministerky kultúry SR za prínos v oblasti podpory detského čítania, inovovania knižničných priestorov a publikovania. Pri hodnotení žiadostí ministerstvo berie do úvahy nielen kvalitu poskytovaných knižnično-informačných služieb a prínos knižnice pre celoživotné vzdelávanie v kalendárnom roku, ale aj inovačný prínos realizovaných podujatí pre miestny rozvoj s ich presahom na región, či celé Slovensko. Dôležitá je tiež spolupráca s orgánmi územnej samosprávy a inými organizáciami. Členovia poroty potom ohodnotia návrhy jednotlivých uchádzačov bodovým systémom a odporučia návrh s najvyšším počtom bodov. Tentokrát sme ich najviac získali Knižnica pre mládež mesta Košice, čo je to také zadosťučinenie, pretože ocenenie je vlastne formou spätnou väzbou ako je vnímaná celoročná práca všetkých zamestnancov.
Exceptional results in the implementation of professional activities and provision of services earned the Library for Youth of Košice the title of Library of the Year 2021. Representatives of the library traveled to Bratislava to receive the award from the hands of the Minister of Culture.
The Košice Youth Library successfully competed for the title of Library of the Year 2021 in the category of Exceptional contribution of institutions in the field of cultural heritage or cultural and educational activities. By submitting the application, it responded to the call of the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic for submission of proposals for the Award of the Minister of Culture of the Slovak Republic for contribution in the field of promotion of children's reading, innovation of library spaces and publishing. When evaluating applications, the Ministry takes into account not only the quality of library and information services provided and the library's contribution to lifelong learning in the calendar year, but also the innovative contribution of the implemented events to local development with their overlap to the region or the whole of Slovakia. Cooperation with local authorities and other organisations is also important. The members of the jury will then evaluate the proposals of the individual applicants using a points system and recommend the proposal with the highest number of points. This time the most of them were awarded to the Youth Library of Košice, which is such a satisfaction, because the award is actually a form of feedback on how the year-round work of all the employees is perceived.
Knižnica má v súčasnosti 19 pobočiek (z toho 14 školských a 5 mimoškolských). Pri svojej práci knižnica využíva kreatívne formy práce s deťmi, mládežou a literatúrou. Hlavným cieľom okrem tej základnej - požičiavania kníh, je vyvolať záujem o knihu a čítanie ako také a následne naučiť svojich čitateľov celoživotnej láske ku knihe ako forme celoživotného sebavzdelávania, alebo zmysluplného relaxu.
The library currently has 19 branches (of which 14 are school branches and 5 are out-of-school branches). In its work, the library uses creative forms of work with children, youth and literature. The main aim, apart from the basic one of lending books, is to generate interest in books and reading as such and consequently to teach its readers a lifelong love of books as a form of lifelong self-education or meaningful relaxation.

Upozornenie: Keška je umiestnená so súhlasom riaditeľky knižnice. Kešku sme vytvárali a umiestňovali spoločne so zamestnancami knižnice, za čo im nesmierne ďakujem. Hľadanie kešky je dostupné iba počas otváracích hodín knižnice.
