Larrés está a 912 metros de altitud, a orillas del río Aurín, a escasos 6 km de Sabiñánigo a cuyo municipio pertenece.

Su población ronda los 70 habitantes, si bien a finales del siglo XIX rozó los 280. Vive del campo, aunque cada vez menos, del turismo y al amparo de la industria y los servicios de Sabiñánigo. Su caserío es de calidad, la población está cuidada, con abundantes plantas y calles limpias y despejadas.

La referencia histórica más antigua de Larrés se remonta al año 1035, el edificio mas antiguo es el castillo de Larrés que al día de hoy alberga el Museo de Dibujo Julio Gavín. El museo abrió sus puertas en 1986 y constituye “uno de los principales puntos de mira de los especialistas de dibujo de España, de Europa o de cualquier parte del mundo».

El proyecto de su fundador, Julio Gavín, hizo que de las paredes de piedra del castillo bajo medieval de Larrés cuelguen las obras de los principales artistas españoles del siglo XX.

Larrés is at an altitude of 912 meters, on the banks of the Aurín River, just 6 km from Sabiñánigo to whose municipality it belongs.

Its population is around 70 inhabitants, although at the end of the 19th century it was close to 280. It lives from the countryside, although less and less, from tourism and under the protection of the industry and services of Sabiñánigo. Its farmhouse is of quality, the population is well cared for, with abundant plants and clean and clear streets.

The oldest historical reference in Larrés dates back to the year 1035, the oldest building is the castle of Larrés, which today houses the Julio Gavín Drawing Museum. The museum opened its doors in 1986 and constitutes "one of the main sights for drawing specialists from Spain, Europe or anywhere in the world".

The project of its founder, Julio Gavín, made the works of the main Spanish artists of the 20th century hang from the stone walls of the low medieval castle of Larrés.
