When my daughter was in high school, she took an Ornithology class and now really enjoys identifying birds. While out with here one time, she pulled out her phone with an app that can recognize birds by their calls. I thiought this was pretty neat, so as I was hiking this trail, I started hearing birds and wondered what they were. So I downloaded an app and recorded a few sounds that it was able to identify for me since they were not seen or were too far away to see exactly what they looked like.
As I was on the trail back to the start, I was close to here when I heard a bird call out and looked up to see it flying high above my head. Opened up the app and hoped that the bird would call again so I could know what it was. To my delight, it did and I was able to record it and the app told me it was a Red Tailed Hawk. When I got home, I shared it with said daughter and she said yep that was a Red Tailed Hawk call. As I was heading down, I took a different trail that lead to the top of a rock and noticed a nice place for a cache, and so here you should find a cache and maybe see or hear a hawk first hand.
I have given a waypoint for a trail that is barely fisible from the main trail. You can follow this in a more direct path, or follow the well worn path around and up which might be the easier way.
